About

Hello.

My name is Aaron Walther and I like to write comics. I started writing in the late 00’s with my superhero comedy series, Zero’s Heroes. I have since branched out with two spin off comics. First, the mature readers black comedy, The Amoral Stingray, followed by the all ages comedy The Uncontrollable Wreck-Lass.

Other comics I’ve written include post apocalyptic adventure The Birdlander and talking animals comedy American Chop Suey, both with artist Ed Bickford.

I also write short science fiction stories for Robot Pulp with artist Ed Bickford.

History of Second Thought Comics

Second Thought Comics started in 2008 as New Haven Comics. In fact, you may have found this website by following a link in an old comic or website.

New Haven Comics has served me well for the last 10 years, but after seeing many changes in both the personal lives of my collaborators and with the industry itself, I feel it is time to rebrand with a reinvigorated focus.

Why the new name, having second thoughts about comics? ;P

I think many, probably even every, independent creator faces those thoughts at some point while on their career path. In the short ten years that I’ve self published comics, I’ve seen a vast assortment of creators who go really hard when they are first starting and then burn out and quit after a year or so. Dream big, fake it til you make it, spend money to make money, always be hustling, and so on. I’ve seen and heard it all from all kind of creators, editors, and publishers, and one common attitude throughout all of them is a sense of futility in trying to balance the creative energy and business sense required to produce things all on your own.

So, Second Thought Comics reflects that sarcastic and cynical view of the comic industry, particularly from the independent perspective.

Simultaneously, in my mind it also represents the creative refinement that comes from perseverance, practice, and an honest attempt to continually learn and hone your craft.

And in that spirit, I’m happy to continue to produce as many comics as I can, for as long as I can, all right here at Second Thought Comics.
